Do you build normal (i.e. non-retail) websites?
We specialise in building retail websites on the Shopify platform, using Out of the Sandbox themes, and the Klaviyo email marketing application. However, we are happy to provide a quote for WordPress websites.
Do you use Themes?
The use of themes is an innovation that has been crucial to reducing the cost of online store development and bringing it within reach of smaller retailers. Coding an online store from scratch is a highly skilled and extremely time-consuming exercise, and is prohibitively expensive. Even major brands use Shopify together with themes, and perhaps some custom ‘tweaking’ if necessary. We specialise in (and can recommend) using the best Shopify themes available : Out of the Sandbox themes.

HOW LONG DOES A RETAIL WEBSITE TAKE TO BUILD?
This very much depends on the size and complexity of your website. It will typically take about 6 weeks from kick-off to handover if content is readily available. The biggest delays in website delivery typically arise from the customer themselves, as they are a critical part of the project, and are responsible for content creation (e.g. Shipping Policies, Return Policies), as well as for making decisions (i.e. “which images should we use on the main banner?”). It’s important that the customer understands this, and is committed to put in the work necessary to support the developer.
WHO WILL CREATE THE CONTENT FOR MY SITE?
You will typically be responsible for the creation of the content on your site, unless this activity is specifically requested and quoted for. You are the authority on your own business and products, and you are therefore best placed to create the content for your website. You won’t be left alone with this task – we’ll provide guidance and handy templates, etc. If you do find yourself struggling, or just can’t see yourself having the time to generate this content, copywriting can be included in the quote.
WILL MY SITE BE MOBILE FRIENDLY?
As mobile traffic accounts for approximately half of all internet traffic, it is absolutely crucial that your retail website is mobile friendly, or ‘responsive’. This means your website automatically adjusts to smaller screen sizes, and stays attractive and easy to use even on small screens. One of the reasons Shopify is such a good choice is that it is so responsive. Also, we only use the best themes available – themes that look great on mobiles, tablets, and widescreen monitors!
DO YOU PROVIDE TRAINING?
Training you how to use your new online store is an integral part of the service we offer, and will form part of any website build package. We will try to offer this training in person if at all possible (see “Where Are You Based?” above), but can use Zoom or other tools to hold remote training sessions. Shopify has the best Content Management System of any retail website hosting platform, and we’ll show you how to use it to add products, images, and pages, as well as monitor the performance of your site. No prior experience is necessary, and all you need is a web browser with an internet connection. We also provide training on Shopify, Retail Express, or Klaviyo as a stand-alone service.
HOW DOES HOSTING WORK WITH SHOPIFY?
Shopify is a fully hosted Software As A Service (SaaS) platform. This means your site will be stored on Shopify’s servers, which has a lot of benefits. You won’t need any additional hosting from a 3rd party.
